Children's Privacy

Last updated:

Our Bachpan Saathi tags are meant to protect children. We take children's privacy very seriously and follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, which requires verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before processing a child's personal data.

1. Parents and guardians are in control

  • Only a parent or lawful guardian (18+) can buy, activate and manage a child's tag.
  • When activating, the guardian confirms they are the child's parent or lawful guardian and gives consent. We may ask for verification.
  • Children cannot create accounts.

2. What we keep about a child

As little as possible:

  • An optional first name or nickname (the "label").
  • An optional public message chosen by the parent (for example, "I may be lost, please help me call my family").

We do not need — and ask parents not to add — a child's full name, school name, home address, photo, or date of birth.

3. What a helper sees

A helper sees only the tag type ("Child"), the label and message the parent chose, and the helpline numbers. They never see the parent's or family's phone numbers.

4. Photos and location from helpers

If a helper finds a child, they may share a photo and location to help reunite the family. This is sent only to the child's emergency contacts and is deleted after 180 days.

5. No tracking or advertising

We do not track children's behaviour, build profiles of children, or show targeted advertising to children.

6. Delete anytime

A parent can delete the child's tag data at any time. See Account & Data Deletion.
